There was a time when addiction stole nearly everything.
Alcohol. Cocaine. Homelessness.
Broken relationships. Broken Dreams.
It seemed there was no way forward.
On November 29, 1992, everything began to change.
Then, through the grace of God, everything changed.
Rob Ekno found freedom from addiction and has now lived more than 33 years in recovery.
His journey has become living proof that no life is beyond redemption.
Today, what once brought pain has become a ministry of hope for thousands of people searching for a new beginning.
Rob's passion for recovery was born through personal tragedy and firsthand experience.
He lost his 28-year-old brother, David, to addiction and his beloved grandmother, Mary Jeannette Rose, to alcoholism.
Those heartbreaking losses shaped his lifelong compassion for individuals and families battling addiction.
During four years with NBC's NewsRadio, Rob also witnessed another devastating tragedy. Just weeks after Phil Hartman shared the pain of his wife's addiction, Phil was murdered, reinforcing Rob's conviction that hope must reach people before addiction destroys another family.
The stories of David, Mary Jeannette Rose, and Phil Hartman—and the impact each had on Rob's journey—are shared in his award-winning book, Cruising Toward Heaven… Navigating from Rough Seas to Miraculous Adventures.
Today, Rob shares that message with everyone from those experiencing homelessness to business leaders, entertainers, and families searching for hope.
No life is beyond God's redemption.

Rob’s testimony has now reached audiences through national television, regional media, churches, conferences, recovery ministries, and more than 400 radio and podcast interviews, allowing his message of hope to reach people across the globe.

*Cruising Toward Heaven...
Navigating From Rough Seas to Miraculous Adventures*
Recipient of the 2024 Gold Medal International Impact Book Award for Addiction & Recovery.
Through stories of loss, faith, miracles, and restoration, the book continues encouraging readers around the world:
that even life's roughest seas can become a testimony of God's faithfulness.

Sobriety is not simply the absence of alcohol or drugs.
Recovery means discovering purpose, rebuilding relationships, serving others, and finding new life through Jesus Christ.
Whether speaking at recovery events, mentoring individuals, producing television programs, writing books, or creating faith-based media, Rob's calling remains the same:
Helping people discover that no story is beyond God's redemption.
